Fatwa of Sheikh Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him): It is permissible for a husband to prevent his wife from going out, even to visit her relatives, if this would harm their relationship or if he fears harm. However, it is recommended that he allow such visits to maintain family ties, provided they occur within the bounds of Islamic guidelines.
