Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) embraced Islam after Abu Jahl had violently insulted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Upon learning of this, Hamza, out of anger and love for his nephew, struck Abu Jahl and declared his faith in Allah and His Prophet. (Reference: “al Fusool fi Seerah ar-Rasool” Ibn Kathir)
