An authentic narration reports that the last words of the Prophet ﷺ were: O Allah, with the best companions (al-Rafiq al-A‘la). This indicates that he had chosen to return to Allah in the Hereafter. Reference: Reported by al-Bukhari no. 4463 and Muslim no. 2444.
